Release notes for Zoom Phone

New and enhanced features

Admin features

  • Enhancements to prevent unauthorized audio uploads in Zoom web portal
Account owners and admins can now set a policy to prevent users from uploading audio files in the Zoom web portal. This prevents users from uploading copyrighted audio content for features like voicemail greetings, music on hold, and call queue announcements. When enabled, users will be unable to upload audio to the Zoom web portal. Users can still record or generate audio using text-to-speech. This feature is in Beta. Submit a request to Zoom Support to get it enabled for your account.
  • Designate Zoom Phone Admin roles and permission via SAML
Global admins can now map Zoom Phone admin roles to SAML attributes and values. They can add advanced SAML mappings for phone admins, define the attribute names and values, and select roles from existing defined phone admin roles. All permissions and default targets for the selected roles will automatically apply to users based on the SAML values from the identity provider.
  • Improved workflow management for Analog Telephone Adapters
Admins can easily assign extensions to specific ATA ports, search, and find extensions mapped to ports in the ports table, and bulk update assigned ports. This enhancement starts rolling out in April through June, however, you can submit a request to Zoom Support, if you need access sooner.
  • Enhancements to Zoom Phone Provide More Flexibility for Managing Emergency Services and Operator Features
Account owners and admins can now define multiple emergency location identification numbers for their Zoom Phone service. This provides more flexibility in configuring emergency services. Additionally, the operator flag can now be removed for all customers, allowing the operator feature to be controlled by the Zoom Phone Hybrid SKU. Together, these enhancements give account owners and admins more control over configuring key features in Zoom Phone to suit their usage needs. The benefits include improved management of emergency services and more flexibility in enabling operator features.
  • Enhancement to users' location dashboard
Account owners and admins have the ability to access the past location data of their users, allowing them to filter information for the preceding 30 days and export it to a CSV file. Additionally, admins have the option to enable or disable the gathering of that data at the account level.
  • Enhancement to the Feature Entitlement and Membership Reports
The Feature Entitlement and Membership reports now indicate the source of the entitlement whether it is inherited from the account, group, site, or user-level setting. Admins can export the CSV file that also includes the inheritance source column.
  • Force Off-Net Calling for Restricted Countries
Account owners and admins can create specific sites that force calls to be routed through the PSTN network instead of using VoIP. This functionality is useful for countries that restrict VoIP calling within their borders. Admins can then manage adding or removing users to these sites based on phone numbers sharing the same country codes. The feature restricts adding users, call forwarding, group call pickups, and monitoring calls across different sites. Additionally, the allocation of call groups, such as auto-receptionists, is restricted to these sites. Force Off-Net sites must be configured during site creation and cannot be enabled later.

Device features

  • Video intercom support
Video intercom calling scenarios are now supported between 2N Verso 2.0 devices and Desk Phones capable of video. Account owners and admins can add those devices to the web portal as part of the assisted provisioning process. You can refer to the December 17, 2023, Video Intercom release note for more information. Please, submit a request to Zoom Support to enable this feature for your account. This feature must be enabled by Zoom.
  • Provisioning templates support
The following devices now support provisioning templates:
  • All certified Avaya IP phones
  • USB storage
The USB ports for storage are now disabled by default on Yealink devices to prevent inadvertent misuse. If necessary, you can use a provision template to activate the Storage option as required.
  • Audio intercom support for AudioCodes IP phones
Account owners and admins can configure audio intercom systems using their certified AudioCodes IP phones. They can use Keys and Positions to allocate intercoms to specific users within their account.
  • Certified devices
Zoom Phone supports the following devices. Account owners and admins can add these devices to the Zoom web portal as part of the provisioning process.
  • Yealink: T44U and T44W.
  • Supported device features
When provisioning Avaya J100 series IP phones, admins will see a minimum of 3-line Key Appearance on their devices, enabling them to program additional keys for line appearances. If admins are provisioning IP phones from other brands or models within the account, they will also be provided a 3-line Key Appearance by default. Please submit a request to Zoom Support to enable Multiple Line Appearance for your account.
  • Firmware Upgrades
The following devices will receive new firmware upgrades. Devices will automatically reboot to upgrade the firmware:
  • AudioCodes: 405hD
  • Poly:
  • Trio C60
  • CCX400, CCX500, CCX505, CCX600, CCX700
  • Yealink: T44U, T44W

General features
