GE launches the first HomeKit compatible air conditioner on the market

General Electric says it has launched the first whole-room air conditioner that can be controlled using Apple HomeKit, while also being Siri-compatible.

Since iOS 11, Apple HomeKit has become more open to hardware manufacturers. This has made it easier to implement the necessary authentication features. As a result, other companies are adapting their products to Apple's smart home technology. One of the latest is GE's air conditioning division. It has launched the AHP08LX, an air conditioner with HomeKit connectivity. This unit has its own iOS app and a WIFI model that can connect to other HomeKit devices. The GE Air Conditioner also supports Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and IFTTT processes.

So far there is no more detailed information about what is implemented via HomeKit. For example, it is possible that the device will execute scenes, such as cooling at a certain time of day.
