Mac/DVS to HDMI 2.x AV receiver?

Hi - I’ m trying to figure out how/if I can stream a 7.1.4 uncompressed multichannel signal from a MacBook Pro (Big Sur) to a av reciever via hdmi 2.x. Specifically, I’ ll be using Avid Pro Tools + Dolby Atmos Production Suite which will output a decoded (non atmos) 12 channel/7.1.4 stream. Minimum 48 kHz, preferably up to at least 96 (or more) I don’ t have the receiver yet, and have never tried to use an AV receiver as an audio interface. So for all I know it will work out of the box by merely connecting an hdmi 2.x to the computer (via tb 3 adapter). But if it doesn’ t, I thought using something like Dante Virtual Soundcard as my audio device and then sending to the receiver might work. Note I’ m not attached to using hdmi 2.x, it’ s just that that seems to be the only type of standard AVR connection with enough bandwidth to handle 12 + channels. Thanks!

Using DVS you can route the individual channels within Pro Tools. The question is where you want to route these channels. I would suggest getting an appropriate Dante interface which can distribute the signal to your'e speakers/amps.
