Unable to Import a Third-Party EtherCAT Module on 64-bit LabVIEW

  • Third-party EtherCAT module imports fail on 64-bit LabVIEW with a memory exception when the device profile is imported. Device profiles import as expected on 32-bit LabVIEW.

Workaround:

  1. Manually copy the third-party ECAT slave device profile XML file to the host computer and to the the real-time target.
  2. Right-click the master item in the LabVIEW Project Explorer and select New»Targets and Devices.
Once the device profile XML file is copied, the third-party module appears as an available slave device and is usable on 64-bit LabVIEW.
  3. Select the device, and click OK.
