How do I avoid noise in Shure Aonic 50 when connected to Windows with FiiO BTA30?

Recently, when using Shure A50 headphones on a Windows 11 PC, I have been experiencing massive noise in the form of cracking, clicking or hissing when I turn on the headphones. The headphones are connected via a FiiO-BTA30. After pairing and resetting both devices several times, an interference-free connection is established, often even with LDAC as codeq.What is going wrong, what do I need to change?

Be sure to download the ShurePlus PLAY software for your cell phone. Update to the latest firmware. You can find the latest firmware for the FiiO-BTA30 here.

Other devices in your environment can affect the signal. Try to isolate the fault, move the device to another location and rule out a defect in the device. Also use other headphone devices to test this.

Thanks for the obvious tip. The headphones were already up to date, but the FiiO-BTA30 was not.

The following changes and improvements have been made in the new firmware:

  1. fixed the issue where the reconnection may fail or cause a system freeze in TX mode;
  2. fixed the issue where a pop sound would occur when starting to play in RX/DAC mode.
  3. fixed the sound dropping out issue when connected to the computer via Bluetooth in RX mode;
  4. fixed the sound dropping out issue when input via SDPIF in DAC mode

The clicking noise is not completely gone, but noticeably less.

According to the conclusions, there seem to be problems with the FiiO. Perhaps the crackling is also coming from a device that is connected. Perhaps you can also transfer the audio output to another device and if the error repeats itself, then the error is already coming in on the input side, in which case you would have to replace a cable there.

Just try from the device to Fiio to speakers. Or from the device directly to the speakers to narrow down the error.

No, there is no trouble with any other audio devices, my other standard output is a Topping DX3 Pro DAC.

Try using the Shure software to set an equalizer and narrow down the frequency range. It may be that the error only occurs at certain frequencies. If you have the option of changing the codec, try others.

Of course, it is also possible that the devices are incompatible with each other. However, only the technical support of both companies can tell you this.
