Drop-in feature / use as intercom?
Since Alexa has the drop in function, do I care if Google Home/Google Assistant has a similar function? Can I use Google Home from my home phone?

No, Google's assistant doesn't have that feature but I guess it's only a matter of time until it's able to drop in on other devices. However, it does broadcast, so you can send messages to other home devices. Or you could record a sound file and play it on your Google Home device if you want for e.g. inform your Kids to come to dinner.
