Google Assistant gets additional languages and routines

In the future, the Google Assistant will be available in 30 different languages and will also recognize them automatically. The Language Assistant has so far been released for eight languages.

Now Google wants to roll out its assistant to other regions of the world. Nick Fox, Vice President of Product at Google, wants to reach 95% of all compatible smartphones worldwide by the end of 2018, so the Google Assistant will be rolled out in more than 30 languages.

In the coming months, the Assistants will be available in Danish, Hindi, Indonesian, Dutch, Norwegian, Swedish and Thai and will be available on both Android and iOS devices. Support for other languages will be provided gradually. In addition, the language assistant receives additional routines and location-based reminders from Google.

Routines should trigger several functions only with one voice command. For this reason, Google first releases the first six routines in the USA. For example, the command "Hey Google, I'm home" should turn on the lights, recall memories for home and play your favorite music. In addition, location-based reminders will be added to your smart speakers like Google Home.
