Require explicit consent for Take Notes with Gemini, recordings, and transcripts in Google Meet
We’re introducing a new feature that allows administrators to require explicit consent from meeting participants before automatic note-taking, recording, and/or transcription begins. With this update, admins can ensure that participants on supported devices must actively agree to be recorded, be transcribed, or have notes enabled.

Getting started

• Admins: This feature will be OFF by default and can be enabled at the domain, OU, or group level. You can find these settings in the Admin console
• End users: There is no end user setting for this feature. Visit the Help Center to learn more.

Rollout pace
Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains: Gradual rollout (up to 15 days for feature visibility) starting on May 5, 2026

• Business: Business Standard and Plus
• Enterprise: Enterprise Standard and Plus
• Education Add-ons: Google AI Pro for Education

These editions include consent for transcripts and recordings:

• Enterprise: Enterprise Starter
