How does IO-Link work?
IO-Link is based on the well-known 3-wire connection for a digital switching signal, in which the switching signal is output as a serial telegram.
In addition to the first answer, one can also say that additional information in the form of a serial protocol can be exchanged between the I/O level and the field device.
There are four modes of communication: IO-Link, DI, DQ and Deactivated. IO-Link configures the port for bidirectional communication, DI mode configures it as input, DQ configures it as output, and deactivated only deactivates the port.
The IO-Link master sends an electrical impulse to move the IO-Link device from serial input / output (SIO) state to the digital communication interface state. Master IO-Link exchanges information frames with an IO-Link device.
