The Walled Garden functionality enables a cloud-managed hotspot
New features in LCOS LX 7.14
- mDNS filter: This feature reduces unnecessary data traffic caused by multicast-based streaming (e.g., via Bonjour). In school networks, for example, it prevents students from controlling devices such as Apple TVs or Chromecasts via the student network.
- DHCP Option 82: This feature enables IP addresses to be assigned based on the SSID to which a device is connected. Access points use DHCP Option 82 to add a circuit ID, which the DHCP server can use to assign IP addresses based on location. This simplifies network monitoring and improves clarity.
- Walled Garden: The Walled Garden functionality enables a cloud-managed hotspot with free access to predefined websites and services – without requiring users to log in to the captive portal.
- General operational stability: Optimizations to improve operational reliability and network stability.
- Notice: The features and improvements specified here apply to all LX-based access points (except LW-500).
