Kubernetes version 1.34 is now generally available for AKS. This release introduces 58 upstream enhancements, including 23 Stable features, 22 Beta features, and 13 Alpha features.
These enhancements help technical practitioners improve cluster operations, incorporate new functionality, and plan upgrades with greater confidence.
Public Preview: Azure SQL updates for mid-February 2026
In mid-February 2026, the following updates and enhancements were made to Azure SQL:
- Simplify SQL deployments from Visual Studio Code using the new SQL Projects Publish dialog.
- Connections Migration dialog enables you to import your existing workflows and connections from Azure Data Studio to Visual Studio Code.
- Azure SQL Database failover groups now support from one to four secondaries, making it easier to design and deploy a disaster recovery topology spanning multiple regions.
Public Preview: Azure Front Door Premium now supports Azure Private Link origins in UAE North
You can now set UAE North as a region for Azure Private Link-enabled origins in your Azure Front Door Premium profile. Azure Private Link-enabled origins in Azure Front Door allow you to deliver content to your end-users through public Azure Front Door endpoints while ensuring that your origins remain inaccessible to the public internet.

Public Preview: Application Gateway for Containers - AKS managed add-on
We're announcing public preview of an AKS managed add-on that simplifies the deployment and lifecycle management of Application Gateway for Containers and its ALB Controller. With the managed AKS add-on, you can enable Application Gateway for Containers with a single command for new or existing AKS clusters through Azure CLI, ARM, and Bicep.
The managed add-on helps streamline operations by providing:
- Managed installation and updates of the ALB Controller (so you don't need to maintain Helm charts)
- Secure integration via managed identity with least-privilege permissions
- Simplified networking when using AKS managed virtual network configuration
The add-on also integrates with AKS' managed Gateway API add-on for seamless management of Gateway API CRDs within your AKS cluster.
