Announcing the General Availability of Azure Site Recovery (ASR) for Virtual Machines with Premium SSD v2 disks. It is particularly well suited for customers seeking to optimize performance and cost across diverse workloads, without over-provisioning.

Generally Available: GitHub Copilot app modernization capabilities for Java and .NET are now available

With GitHub Copilot app modernization, developers can now stay focused on innovation while offloading the repetitive, time-consuming modernization work to AI.

These new capabilities include:

  • General availability of upgrade for .NET and Java: GitHub Copilot now uses AI to automate the upgrade process for Java and .NET applications. The AI agents in GitHub analyze your codebase, detect breaking changes, suggest safe migration paths, and apply build fixes, CVE checks, and test validations with human in the loop throughout the entire process.
  • General availability of app modernization for Java, and Public Preview of app modernization for .NET: GitHub Copilot now streamlines your end-to-end app modernization journey on Azure. The AI agents within GitHub Copilot analyze your application, identify dependencies, fix platform-specific issues, containerize the app, generate deployment artifacts, and deploy to Azure dev/test environments, all while aligning with your organization’s security and compliance standards.

Announcing the General availability of vaulted backup for Azure Files shares premium!

Azure Backup brings vaulted protection to Azure Files shares premium, to ensure business continuity and compliance, even in the face of accidental deletion, malicious activity, or ransomware. Vaulted backup provides you a secure, off-site copy of your data that’s independent of the source account.

Key capabilities of vaulted backups:

  • Off-site protection: Maintain an independent copy of data in the vault, enabling recovery even if the source account is lost or compromised. Restore to the original or an alternate account.
  • Deletion and attack resilience: Isolated backups safeguard against accidental deletion, insider threats, and ransomware, ensuring continuity of operations.
  • Automated and flexible backups: Define schedules for daily/weekly protection or trigger on-demand backups as needed.
  • Long-term retention: Store backup data for up to 99 years to address compliance and archival requirements.
  • Security-first design: Safeguards such as soft-delete, immutability, encryption, and multi-user authorization protect vault data against tampering or misuse.

Generally Available: Using Server-sent events with Application Gateway
Azure Application Gateway supports use of Server-sent events in general availability, enabling real-time data streaming from server to client. Server-sent events utilize server push technology on a persistent HTTP connection for seamless updates to the clients.

To implement this, specific configurations are required on both the application gateway resource and the backend application.
