Public Preview: Signed request on Azure Front Door

Public Preview: Signed request on Azure Front Door
We’re announcing the public preview of Azure Front Door signed request, a powerful new feature designed to enhance access control for content delivery. This capability allows organizations to restrict access to their content—such as media streams, file downloads, APIs, and documents—based on user authentication, geolocation, or time-based constraints. Configuration is streamlined through the Azure portal, where users can set up keys, key groups, and rules to enforce URL signing.

By leveraging signed requests, Azure Front Door edge servers validate incoming requests before serving content, ensuring that only authorized users can access protected assets. This is especially valuable for subscription-based services, temporary access scenarios, and geo-restricted content. This feature empowers developers to secure their content delivery workflows with precision and flexibility.

Generally Available: Azure WAF CAPTCHA Challenge for Azure Front Door
Announcing the General Availability of CAPTCHA for Azure Web Application Firewall (WAF) with Azure Front Door.

Modern web applications face evolving threats, including bots, web scrapers, and brute-force attacks, many of which can bypass traditional security controls like IP blocking and rate limiting. CAPTCHA provides an adaptive layer of protection, ensuring legitimate users can access applications while blocking harmful automated traffic.

This new security feature enhances bot mitigation strategies by introducing an interactive challenge that verifies human users in real time, helping organizations protect their applications from automated attacks.
