Call Queue members require an assigned DDI to receive external group calls?

Hi all,

I'm having a little brain fart here and also thought I would find an alternative resource to reddit to confrim what I struggling to recall.

In order for Call Group members to be able to answer external calls from the PSTN, they need to have a DDI number assigned to them, Correct?

For example, a Businesses main external calling number is routed to an AA, which then routes to a Call Queue, containing several members. If those members dont have an external teams number assigned to their account, they would be able to answer it.

My follow up question is...

What happens to large contact centres that have hundreds of queue members? Does each one of them have to have a DDI? It seems like a lot of wasted numbers where as a traditional phone system allows dummy extensions.

Thanks in advance

M
