Microsoft Teams: Ability for meeting participants to edit their display name
Release notes for Government Channel releases
Teams Admin and Teams App: May 22
GCC-H Customers:
- Microsoft Teams: Ability for meeting participants to edit their display name: Teams meeting participants will be able to edit their display name, enabling more flexibility in their meeting presence, regardless of their tenant set display name. Users can make this change during the meeting and it will persist throughout the duration of the meeting.
Teams App: May 22
DoD Customers:
- Real-time mic volume indicator for Teams meetings: This feature provides real-time visual feedback on audio levels in the meeting, eliminating the need to ask, "Can you hear me?" By offering continuous visual confirmation, it enhances user confidence and reduces communication breakdowns. It streamlines meeting efficiency by minimizing interruptions and ensuring seamless communication.
Teams Admin: May 22
DoD Customers:
- Microsoft Teams: Admin control on In-meeting only chat: This feature allows you to control chat duration in meetings organized by in-tenant users through the Teams Admin Center. When the policy is enabled, messages can only be sent while the meeting is active.
- Cross cloud collaboration in VDI: This feature lets VDI users to join meetings with people in other Microsoft 365 cloud environments (for example, a user in GCCH can join a meeting in commercial, GCC, or DOD) through three options, such as authenticated access via cross-cloud meeting connection, authenticated access using a guest account, or anonymous access. These scenarios require Slimcore-based optimization, as WebRTC-based optimization does not support meetings across different cloud environments.
GCC Customers:
- Microsoft Teams: Occupancy status on Teams panels: Teams panels can now smartly utilize signals from Teams Rooms devices or occupancy sensors paired with panels to indicate when a room is in use (for example, LED glow), so you’re not surprised to find an available room is actually occupied.
