Enhanced CIP Security for Resource-Constrained EtherNet/IP Devices
ODVA is announcing a new cybersecurity extension for EtherNet/IPTM, supporting the resource-constrained EtherNet/IP devices.
CIP Security can now provide device authentication, device identity, integrity, and data confidentiality with a broad trust domain to the resource-constrained devices.
This new integration is adding a new Resource-Constrained CIP Security profile, similar to the EtherNet/IP Confidentiality Profile, with the same basic aspects of endpoint authentication, data confidentiality, and authenticity.
It requires only DTLS (Datagram Transport Layer Security) support instead of the previously required DTLS and TLS (Transport Layer Security), which can be used only with low-overhead UPD communication.
