Owl Connect:

  • Owl Connect allows users to connect 2 Meeting Owls to extend their audio and video range by 2.5m in each direction.

Prerequisites:

To connect your two Meeting Owls with Owl Connect, you should first ensure the following:

  • You are using one of the following combinations for your two Owls:
  • Both are Meeting Owl Pros
  • Both are Meeting Owl 3s
  • Meeting Owl Pro and Meeting Owl 3
  • You are using the Meeting Owl mobile app
  • The Meeting Owl app for desktop does not currently support Owl Connect.
  • Both Owls run on software version 1.8.0.29 or higher.
  • There are known incompatibilities between versions 2.3.0.30 and 2.4.0.15, and between versions 2.8.0.12 and 2.9.0.17. For an optimal Owl Connect experience, we recommend keeping your Owls on the same software version.
  • Both Owls are registered and connected to the WLAN and have been connected at least once since the update to 1.8.0.29.

WLAN usage:

  • Only the primary Owl needs to be connected to WLAN once to initiate this feature, but it is recommended to connect both if you want to switch Owls at any time.

Bluetooth Usage:

  • Setting up an Owl Connect network is done via Bluetooth. Once Owl Connect is set up, Bluetooth is no longer used.

Instructions:

If the above conditions are met, you can now begin pairing your Owls with Owl Connect:

  1. plug your USB cable into your primary Owl - this is the Owl connected to your host computer and located at the front of the room, closest to your TV.
  2. Plug the power adapters into both Owls and plug the adapters into the outlets. Wait until the owl's eyes stop pulsing and you hear a scream.
  3. Place the secondary Owl 1-2.5 m away from the primary Owl, with no obstacles in between. This Owl will not be connected to a computer.
  4. Make sure the Owls' eyes can see each other. The camera lens on top of each Owl must be able to see the blinking of each other's eyes for pairing to be possible.

Make sure there is no bright backlight or bright overhead lighting above either Owl. The camera lens on top of each Owl must be able to see the blinking of the other Owl's eyes to allow pairing, which could affect visibility.

  1. In the Meeting Owl mobile app, select which Owl will be your primary Owl. The Owl's eyes will blink to indicate that it has been selected.
Select Owl Connect under Meeting Controls. 7.
  2. select your secondary Owl.
  3. select PAIR. Owls will blink at each other during pairing and at the beginning of each meeting to find each other. Make sure there are no obstacles between the owls, as the camera lens on top of each owl must be able to see the other owl's eyes blinking to allow mating.
  4. A confirmation message will pop up to indicate that the Owls are paired. Select Done.
  5. In a meeting, you can determine if the Owls are properly paired and visible to each other when one of the following icons appears on the Owl's main scene:

Pairing continuity:

After successful pairing in the Meeting Owl app, Owls remain paired between meetings and restarts unless one of the following occurs:

  • The Secondary Owl is connected to a computer via USB.
  • One of the Owls becomes part of another Owl Connect pair
  • The pair is manually separated in the Meeting Owl app
  • One or both Owls are reset in the Meeting Owl app
