To have a good signal transmission in one PROFIBUS network, it is necessary to terminate segments of it by a bus.
There is a slight difference when it comes down to PROFIBUS RS-485 termination with a combination of three resistors and PROFIBUS MBP (PA) bus termination with one resistor and a capacitor.
The PROFIBUS terminations that are built into PROFIBUS devices or PROFIBUS connectors can be switched on or off. It can easily happen that there are too many bus terminations used in a PROFIBUS segment. This situation must be observed to make sure that only the ends of one PROFIBUS segment are terminated, and nowhere else in that place.
