Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 – Key Highlights

Smarter Tools for Transformation
RHEL 10 introduces advanced AI-driven features that simplify operations and accelerate innovation. Red Hat Enterprise Linux Lightspeed provides proactive AI guidance, a natural-language CLI assistant, and intelligent package recommendations. Lightspeed planning centralizes AppStream and lifecycle visibility to help organizations anticipate upcoming OS changes. RHEL 10 also strengthens its AI ecosystem with support for confidential computing, image mode, Postgres Vector Database, and future MCP integration.

Developer Innovation
A RISC-V developer preview enables early evaluation of RISC-V for future server adoption. Updated toolchains include PHP 8.3, NGINX 1.26, Git 2.47, Maven 3.9, and MySQL 8.4, with expanded Redis/Valkey support. RHEL can also run directly on Windows through WSL for more flexible development workflows.

Consistent, Scalable Operations
New image mode capabilities streamline OS management using container-style workflows, with full compliance hardening options. Image builder gains UI and feature parity with Insights image builder and supports cloud, bare metal, VM, and WSL images. Cloud-optimized RHEL 10 images are now jointly engineered with AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure. Web console updates include packageless remote sessions, a new text editor, Stratis FS configuration, and built-in cluster management. System roles expand to include AIDE, Podman/Quadlet, and systemd user units. SAP workload optimizations simplify cluster structures and introduce unified SAP HANA resource agents.

Modern Security and Compliance
RHEL 10 adds post-quantum cryptography algorithms to protect long-term data confidentiality. Image-mode compliance hardening, improved FIPS validation, encrypted DNS, and HSM support enhance security posture. Red Hat Lightspeed automates secure domain joins. The RHEL Security Select add-on offers prioritized CVE fixes with 90-day SLAs, tailored for regulated industries.

Enterprise Lifecycle & Management
Lifecycle management is strengthened through Lightspeed Advisor in Satellite (tech preview), offering proactive recommendations in disconnected environments. Satellite 6.17 adds image mode support, Flatpak management, secure boot provisioning, and IPv6 deployment. The new RHEL extensions repository provides vetted community tools, while the partner validation program streamlines hardware/software compatibility. LEAPP upgrade paths include:

9.6 → 10
8.10 → 9.6
7.9 → 8.10
