Yes. I connect my Mac (or any laptop for that matter) via HDMI to one of the HDMI ports on the Flip. It will show up as an external monitor on your computer but you have to click on the arrow at the top of the Flip screen, Import > PC, and choose one of the HDMI inputs.
In addition to the connection via HDMI/DP cable, Miracast can also be used. This allows it to be included as an extended desktop, i.e. as a second screen. WIN+P starts the setting, then follow the instructions. Provided you check the box for keyboard/mouse, even controlling the laptop from the Flip is possible.
