The SIMATIC Industrial OS V4.2 for x86 architecture is now available for the SIMATIC IPCs listed below. Version 4.2 is based on Debian 12.11 (bookworm) and offers extended hardware support and software functionality. The operating system has been specifically set up for the SIMATIC IPC.
The SIMATIC Industrial OS with its Linux-based operating system constitutes an alternative to the tried-and-tested Microsoft Windows operating systems available for the SIMATIC IPCs.

The focus is on a small footprint, without taking up unnecessary space, but with all components for fast commissioning and simple further development. It was put together and tested on the SIMATIC IPCs and can be used in industrial environments and other areas of application.

Installation
The SIMATIC Industrial OS can be purchased via the Industry Mall per OSD.
The scope of delivery of the download now includes the images V3.5.3, V4.1 and V4.2 for a service USB flash drive, an installation guide, the product information, and the license certificate.
After the download, the Service Stick image is transferred onto a USB flash drive, and the system is booted via this USB flash drive.
The operating systems are then transferred onto the IPC and commissioned for the first time.
