Highlights
The following new features are available with Step 7 Safety V20:

• OPC UA Safety (will be provided in the V20 update)
• Supports the new PLC generation S7-1200F G2 together with the new fail-safe signal boards
• Support for the new virtual PLC with Failsafe 1507VF
• No more separate Safety Basic license. The basic functionality for the engineering of the S7-1200F and S7-1200F G2 is included in the Step7 license.
• Support for Central UMAC including consideration of failsafe function permissions

Investment security
Projects as of STEP 7 Safety V13 SP1 can be directly upgraded to STEP 7 Safety V20.
Projects from older versions of STEP 7 Safety (V11 to V13) are updated based on STEP 7 Safety Advanced V13 SP1 or V13 SP2 (most recent update recommended).

Important note:
TIA Portal project versions V13 SP1 to V19 are upgraded with TIA Portal V20 to the project version V20. If you need to edit a TIA Portal project version V13 SP1 to V19, we recommend an additional installation of the corresponding software for TIA Portal V20.
The license purchased for V20 is also valid for all older TIA Portal versions.

By migrating the program code and hardware configuration, it is possible to migrate S7 Distributed Safety V5.4 SP5 projects to STEP 7 Safety Advanced V20.

System requirements and compatibility with other SIMATIC products
STEP 7 Safety Advanced V20 requires STEP 7 Professional V20 (109963849)
STEP 7 Safety Basic V20 requires at least STEP 7 Basic V20 (109963849)

Refer to STEP 7 Professional V20 for the supported operating systems and hardware requirements. The compatibility to other SIMATIC products is the same as for STEP 7 Basic / Professional V20.

Software Update Service (SUS)
Customers who have an existing Software Update Service contract for S7 Distributed Safety or Safety Basic / Advanced will receive, with delivery release of STEP 7 Safety Basic / Advanced V20, a delivery of a STEP 7 Safety Upgrade license, depending on their selected SUS contract.

Delivery takes place automatically.
