My Zoom hangs when using video - can anyone help?

I've been using Zoom on my Windows 10 PC for year without any major problems - until a week ago

Now, when I start a Zoom meeting with video, Zoom goes into "not responding" and hangs - see video at

I have already uninstalled and reinstalled Zoom.

My webcam works fine on the native Windows "Camera" application

I get the same problem whether starting Zoom from the desktop app, Chrome or Edge. I have tried going through "Settings"/"Video" and get the same problem-

This is urgent, I am a heavy Zoom user.

Can anyone help?

There are several possible reasons why Zoom stops responding and hangs when you start a video meeting on your Windows 10 PC. Here are some steps you can try to solve the problem:

  1. Make sure your PC meets the minimum requirements for Zoom: Verify that your PC meets the minimum requirements for Zoom. Zoom recommends at least a dual-core processor running at 2 GHz or higher, 4 GB of RAM, and a dedicated graphics card with at least 1 GB of VRAM. Make sure your PC meets these requirements. 2.
Disable all unnecessary background applications: There may be other applications running on your PC that are slowing down Zoom. Close all unnecessary background applications, especially applications that use a lot of CPU or memory.
Check your internet connection: Make sure your internet connection is fast and stable enough to support video meetings in Zoom. A slow or unstable internet connection can cause Zoom to be unresponsive or hang.
Check your webcam settings: Your webcam setting in Zoom may be configured incorrectly. Go to Settings > Video and make sure your webcam is correctly selected and that the camera video is previewed.
Run Zoom as an administrator: Right-click on the Zoom program icon and select Run as Administrator. This will run Zoom with higher permissions and may allow it to work better.
Update your drivers: Make sure your graphics and audio drivers are up to date. Check your PC or graphics card manufacturer's website to download and install the latest drivers.
  2. run a system diagnostic: If all other steps fail, you can run a system diagnostics to identify possible problems on your PC. Open the command prompt as an administrator and type the command sfc /scannow. This will scan Windows for errors and repair them.
