Why doesn't changing my user name work

I use Zoom on macOS. Some time ago I set up my basic Zoom account so I don't have to enter my info when I attend meetings. I don't remember what I entered. When I launch the Zoom app and click the Join button, the Join Meeting dialog pops up. It was previously displaying in the name field: [my nickname] [my last name] Today, wanting to change that, I signed into the Zoom website. I clicked on the tab in near the upper right of the screen that had my email address. I chose Edit my Profile. A dialog popped up. To my surprise, under the Name field it had my email address. (My email address also appears in the Email field.) I changed my Name field entry to: [my nickname] [my last name] ([my preferred pronouns]) and clicked OK. The tab in the upper right corner of the Zoom page now agrees with what I entered in the Name field. But when I open the Zoom app and click Join, the Join Meeting dialog displays in the Name field my email address rather than the value of what I entered for my Name on my account. Just in case the fields got switched in the database, I went back to the Zoom website and tried swapping them. But Zoom won't accept my name in the email field. Does anyone have an idea of how to fix this (without my having to retype my name and pronouns every time I join a meeting)?
