Release notes for Zoom Team Chat
Release notes for Zoom Team Chat
April 14, 2025
New, enhanced, and changed features
Zoom Web Portal Features
• New channel-level setting to manage who can initiate instant meetings
Account owners and admins can now manage instant meeting permissions using new channel-level settings. Options include: all members, channel owner/admin only, or no one.
If a user without permission tries to start a meeting, a warning will appear, and the video icon will be hidden. External users are blocked. This prevents unintended disruptions in large channels.
Platforms: Web portal, Windows, macOS, iOS, Android
• Configure settings in the admin portal to restrict members from leaving channels
Admins can restrict members from leaving specific channels via the admin portal, either during channel creation or later. When enabled, leave/remove options are hidden.
Platforms: Web portal, Windows, macOS, iOS, Android
• Ability to reset channel invite links in the admin portal
Admins can now reset channel invite links directly from the Channel Management page, helping maintain secure access without needing client-side changes.
Platform: Web portal

• Send contact requests with a note on mobile app
Users can now add personalized notes to contact requests on mobile, making connections more personal and meaningful.

Platforms: Windows, macOS, iOS, Android
• Enhancements to code blocks
Code blocks now support syntax highlighting and allow users to select a language from a dropdown.
Platforms: Windows, macOS (Desktop app only)
• Enable starring and foldering in shared spaces channels
Users can star or organize shared space channels into folders for better access and personalization. Channels can appear in multiple sections.
Platforms: Windows, macOS, Linux, Android

If thread summaries are off but unlocked, a pop-up will now prompt users to enable the feature for easier access to auto-generated chat summaries.
Platforms: Web portal, Windows, macOS, iOS, Android
• Ability to mention users outside the chat/channel
Users can mention people outside a chat/channel to reference or invite them, without triggering notifications unless they are added to the chat.
