Several Changes, New Features, And Fixes For Web, Zoom Phone, and Others

Improvements

Administrator features

  • Enable Language Interpretation by default - Web
    Account owners and admins can enable the Language Interpretation feature by default when scheduling Zoom meetings. Previously, when scheduling a new Zoom meeting, the Language Interpretation feature was always off by default.
  • Change to Dashboard statistics - Web
    In Dashboard, the Toll-free Minutes tile was renamed to Audio Conferencing Minutes. These statistics show minutes for toll-free dial-in, call-out, premium toll dial in, and toll dial-in.
  • Customer grant access workflow for specific content to assist troubleshooting - Web
    Account owners and admins can now grant access to Zoom personnel to access specific content. For example, when working with Zoom on a technical issue, account owners and admins can grant limited access to specific content like chat and recordings to Zoom personnel to assist with troubleshooting. Approval allows authorized personnel at Zoom with appropriate permissions to view specified content for a set period of time. Once the time period expires, access is revoked. All access attempts and activity to the files are logged.
  • Create, remove, and rename breakout rooms after launch - Web
    Account owners and admins can enable the ability for hosts to create, remove, and rename breakout rooms while they are open and in use. This feature requires client version 5.9.3 or higher and must be enabled by Zoom.
  • Turn off caption and chat saving in local recordings - Web
    Account owners and admins can choose if hosts and participants are allowed to save chat messages or caption files in local recordings. Account owners and admins can enable or disable and lock these settings at the account and group levels. Users can enable or disable at the user level. This setting is enabled by default.
  • Reset virtual backgrounds to default after each meeting - Web
    Account owners and admins can choose to reset any virtual background, ed by the admin, for users after any Zoom meeting. When a user changes their pre-approved virtual background for a specific meeting, their background will automatically reset back to the default after the meeting. This setting is available at the account and group levels, and can be locked at either level.
  • Enhancements to attendee authentication for registered meetings and webinars - Web
    Account owners and admins can configure a new authentication for webinar and meetings registrants: Sign into Zoom with invited email. This allows for hosts to require attendees to be signed-in to the Zoom account associated with the email they registered to join this session with. If trying to join without being signed-in or signed-in with the wrong account, they will be notified and given the to sign-in or switch account.
  • Additional features added for Follow the user in-meeting policy - Web
    Account owners and admins can restrict what in-meeting features users on the account have access to when joining both internal and external meetings. Features can be restricted by the administrator either for external meetings only or all meetings the user joins as required. This feature must be enabled by Zoom for non-enterprise accounts. This feature is supported on desktop clients (Windows, macOS, Linux), mobile apps (iOS, Android), and web client.
    The restriction of the following features were added:

  • Alert group call pickup members of incoming calls- Zoom Phone
    Account owners and admins can set up an alert to notify call pickup members of incoming calls. If enabled, members receive a subtle sound notification to accept or dismiss the call. This feature is support on desktop client version 5.9.3.
  • Schedule a Personal Audio Conference -Outlook add-in
    Users can choose to schedule a Personal Audio Conference (PAC) when scheduling a meeting in the Outlook add-in.

User features

  • Zoom for Intune (Android) available in the Download Center
    Users can download the Zoom for Intune (Android) app from the Download Center.
  • Notify users with compromised account credentials - Web
    Users with a work email login type are notified by email if their account credentials are compromised, and are prompted to reset their password. If the password isn't changed in 1 day, users are logged out of Zoom on all devices and are required to reset their password. Account owners, admins, and any other contact set up to receive Trust & Safety communications from Zoom will also receive email notifications about any compromised users on the account.
  • Customize waiting room with video - Web
    Users can add a video when customizing the appearance of the waiting room in the web portal. Participants in the waiting room are able to view the video while they wait for the host to allow them into the meeting. This feature requires version 5.7.3 or higher. This feature is available for all paid accounts. Account owners and admins can submit a request for Zoom to disable the video customization for their account.
  • Reset virtual backgrounds to default after each meeting- Web
    Users can and use any pre-approved virtual background before or during any Zoom meeting. However, after the meeting is over, the user's background will be automatically changed to a virtual background chosen by the admin.
  • Personal contacts - Zoom Phone
    Users can store personal contacts including names, email addresses, phone numbers and more in Zoom by uploading a CSV file. Phone numbers must be in E.164 at for contact names to display correctly. Contacts will be saved in the account and synced with the Zoom desktop client and mobile app underContacts >My Contacts. Users must have client or app version 5.8.3 or higher for their personal contacts to be synced. Personal contacts don't support starring messages and can't be shared with other users.

Developer features

  • Track recording minutes for Video SDK Cloud Recording- Web
    The account-level usage report for cloud recording will be based on recording minutes.
  • Cloud recording support for Video SDK accounts- Web
    Account owners of Video SDK accounts can enable cloud recording to record and save sessions as well as download recording files in the cloud.
  • Command channel for Video SDK accounts- Web
    A real-time data and command channel will be implemented between Video SDK meeting participants.

Device Management feature

  • Classification of updates for Windows devices
    Account owners and admins can deep dive into devices running Windows and check upcoming updates to see their classification type (security, critical, none) to determine their publication date and status.

Devices

  • Silent resync- Zoom Phone
    Silent resync will be enabled by default for certain provisioned Poly and Yealink IP phones. Silent resync allows phones to update provisioning changes with fewer IP Phone restarts. Note: Depending on the configuration eters being changed, the IP Phone may restart immediately during the sync process. This feature is supported on these certified models:

- Poly Trio/CCX/VVX series

- All Yealink models

- Enable or disable web admin for the phone

- Set the admin password for the phone

- NTP server information utilized by the phone

- Access via web pages to the devices now utilize HTTPS and port 443. This change is being introduced to be consistent with Zoom's enhanced security posture.

  • ZTP support for Cisco IP phones - Zoom Phone
    Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP) is enabled by default on Cisco MPP (multiparty platform) IP phones. ZTP will auto-provision Cisco MPP IP phones for Zoom Phone service once it is connected and boots up.
  • Cisco IP phone common provisioning URL- Zoom PhoneTo further enhance onboarding Cisco MPP (multiparty platform) IP phones to Zoom Phone service, a base URL is now available which allows customers with multiple MPP models to leverage a single URL for provisioning. This helps deployments to take advantage of Cisco phones supporting DHCP 66 for provisioning.
  • Cisco IP phone "Set Password" screen after provisioning- Zoom Phone
    Previously, after provisioning a Cisco MPP (multiparty platform) phone with Zoom Phone, the "Set Password" screen appears, even if the Zoom account has a device password configured. This update removes this screen from appearing on the IP Phone if the device password is set in the web portal and the changes have been provisioned to the phone.

General features

  • Zoom Events Expo - Zoom Events
    The Expo feature allows event organizers to set up a virtual exhibition that connects Attendees and Booth Representatives (Sponsors and exhibitors) to discover more about their products and services.

Host features

  • Registrant Management- Zoom EventsThe registrant management system provides support for Hosts to manage their registrants at the event level. Hosts can view, sort, and filter their events' special roles and the regular Attendees info and registration status.
    Note: The Export function has been moved from Event Summary to the new Manage Registration page.
  • Payment & Billing features

- Partial refund capabilities- Zoom Events, OnZoomHosts and Attendees now have partial refund capability to support the flexibility of canceling events or refunding tickets.

  • Add livestream and recording metrics to the Session tab- Zoom EventsMetrics for a lobby's livestreaming and recording unique views are now included in the Session tab of the Host Analytics Dashboard.
  • Enhancements to the event session CSV file- Zoom EventsAll event details and event session data are now included in a CSV file download.
  • Email notification for the restricted guest list- Zoom Events, OnZoomFor public events, email notifications can be sent to invited guests, who are uploaded through a CSV file.
  • Enhancements to the Duplicate Event- Zoom Events, OnZoomWhen an event organizer duplicates an event, the event, session, and ticket start date/time will be adjusted automatically to the current date.

Hub features

  • Recording library- Zoom Events
    The event organizer has the option to allow users who missed the event to watch event recordings.

Event setup features

  • Receive single-notification email for participants with several special roles- Zoom EventsEvent participants with multiple special roles will receive only one email that notifies them of changes or updates to the event. Previously, event participants with multiple roles received multiple notifications regarding event changes (one email per role).

Meeting or Zoom Webinar integration features

  • Event registration source tracking s- Zoom EventsHosts can now generate a unique event for each keyword and track the metrics on registrants' and visitors' event views through each .
  • Enhancements to session polls- Zoom EventsIf the advanced polls Zoom web portal setting is enabled, Hosts can create more types of poll questions (such as single choice, multiple choice, and so on) and have more advanced poll s.
    Note: Users below version 5.8.3 will not be able to view or participate in advanced polls.

Others

  • Support for devices registered to Webex- Zoom Connector for SIP/H.323
    Support has been added for devices provisioned in Zoom, but registered to Webex. This allows the device to use the appropriate call protocol when joining Webex or Zoom meetings.

Bug fixes

  • Minor bug fixes - (Web, Zoom Phone, Outlook add-in, Zoom Events, OnZoom, Cloud Room Connector (CRC), Zoom Connector for SIP/H.323)
  • Security enhancements - (Web, Outlook add-in, Zoom Events, OnZoom, Cloud Room Connector (CRC), Zoom Connector for SIP/H.323, Cisco/Polycom Zoom Connector)
  • Resolved an issue where the UI for editing and creating polls/advanced polls was not clearly defined, sending users to Advanced Polls automatically - (Web)
  • Resolved an issue where the Type column in the Chat History report did not distinguish between group chats and channels. The Type column now shows 1:1, Group Chat, or Channel - (Web)
  • Resolved an issue for a subset of users regarding reminder emails being sent with inaccurate registrant details - (Web)
  • Resolved an issue where a shared voicemail inbox was displaying the message with random times - (Zoom Phone)
  • Resolved an issue where screen shares were not displayed correctly for certain Poly devices - (Cloud Room Connector (CRC))
  • Resolved an issue where certain devices are unable to automatically join scheduled meetings using the H.323 protocol - (Zoom Connector for SIP/H.323)
  • Resolved an issue where favorites manually created by users are being deleted once provisioned in Zoom - (Zoom Connector for SIP/H.323)

Important notes

  • (Web) The Enable or disable the Hide meeting description feature was pulled from release due to issues with deployment, and will be available in another upcoming release.
