How do I get the microphone Mute button to stay muted??

While using Zoom and WebEx, I noticed that when I press the microphone mute button on the main console, it does turn the ring red for a few seconds and then unmutes. Is there a way to keep it muted until I unmute it?

The mute is maintained until it is deactivated again. If this does not work there are two possibilities:

the firmware is not up to date
someone presses the mute button on the PC. The mute status of the group is synchronized with the connected PC or with the VC app.
