Teams
Is Microsoft teams the successor of Microsoft Yammer?

Are teams intended as successors to Yammer, or will the two platforms continue to run in parallel?
Doesn't look like Yammer will be replaced by teams at the moment, after a big update recently. In addition, the two programs have quite different task areas and functions.
No, they are two completely different tools.
Yammer is a social network for companies. Employees can create a profile, comment on contributions and collaborate in groups. In doing so, they also receive information about topics from other departments, which they wouldn't hear about via teams, where the individual departments usually form their own team.
However, Yammer can be integrated into Teams via the app list.
