Teams recording output is different than what was on screen during the meeting?

I recorded a meeting with someone who was in the meeting with his smartphone, he had his webcam turned on. My camera was turned of. I saw the complete webam image of that person, so cell phone dimensions (large black space on either side of the actual video). I recorded the meeting. After opening the recording when the meeting was finished, the video filled the entire screen, resulting in a large part missing from the top and bottom of this video.

1) Is there a way around this, are there any setting that I'm missing and need to change?

2) Can I still 'fix' the recording I described above? I imported it in Premiere, but it really seems to simply have cut of the top and bottom of the video in order to fill the whole screen from left to right.

Thank you kindly for any insights on this!

The problem with the video looking different on your screen than the recorded video is probably due to different screen resolutions or ratios. You could try adjusting the screen resolution of the device you're viewing the recording on or changing the zoom settings in Teams to ensure that the video is displayed in full-screen mode.

If parts of the video have been cropped, you may not be able to recover them. However, you could try scaling the image to better fit the available screen, or add a black frame to compensate for the missing parts of the image. A video editor like Premiere can do this. If you resize the video, be sure to maintain the proportions of the video to avoid distortion.
