Improvements

  • New. This update improves the operation of the search box in the taskbar. As you type in the search box, search results are now displayed in the search flyout box. You can also change the search feature you want for your taskbar by going to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar. For commercial customers, the update adds a new policy for IT administrators to manage how the search box appears in the taskbar in your organization.   • The update fixes an issue that affects the Notepad combo box in Settings. It does not display all the available options.
  • This update fixes an issue that affects Microsoft PowerPoint. The program stops responding. This occurs when you use accessibility features.
  • This update fixes an issue that affects USB printers. The system classifies them as multimedia devices even though they are not.
  • The update fixes an issue that affects Xbox subscribers. When you purchase an Xbox subscription using the "Redeem Code" option, the Xbox subscription card does not appear on the Settings - Accounts page. This occurs when recurring billing is disabled.

Bug fixes

  • This update fixes an issue that affects the command line. An error occurs when you set the system locale to Japanese and cmd.exe is configured in legacy mode.
  • This update fixes an issue that affects the remote procedure call service (rpcss.exe). The issue can cause a race condition between the Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM) and the Microsoft Remote Procedure Call (RPC) endpoint mapping.
  • This update affects the ms-appinstaller URI. It now works with the DesktopAppInstaller policy.
  • This update fixes an issue that affects Microsoft PowerPoint. It stops responding to Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD). This occurs when you use Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).
  • This update fixes an issue that affects Windows Search. Windows Search fails inside Windows container images.
  • This update fixes an issue that affects the Microsoft HTML application host (HTA). This issue blocks code execution that uses Microsoft HTA. This occurs when you enable Windows Defender forced User Mode Code Integrity (Umci) mode from Application Control (WDAC).
  • This update fixes an issue that affects Desired State Configuration. The previously configured options are lost. This occurs when metaconfig.mof is missing.
  • This update fixes compatibility issues that affect some printers. These printers use Windows Graphical Device Interface (GDI) printer drivers. These drivers do not fully comply with the GDI specifications.
  • This update fixes an issue that affects the Simple Certificate Enrollment Protocol (SCEP) certificate. The system reports some SCEP certificate installations as failed. Instead, the system should report them as pending.
  • This update fixes an issue that affects the new Windows Runtime API (WinRT). This issue prevents an application from querying location information with MBIM2.0 and later.
  • This update fixes an issue that affects the pin credential icon for Fast Identity Online 2.0 (FIDO2). It does not display on the credentials screen of an external monitor. This occurs when this monitor is connected to a closed laptop.
  • This update affects the "Set default associations" Group Policy Object (GPO) configuration file. You can now use it to create an extension for specific applications.
  • This update fixes an issue that affects the SharedPC Account Manager. Multiple accounts cannot be deleted during cleanup.
  • This update fixes an issue that may affect lsass.exe. It may stop responding. This occurs when a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) query is sent to a domain controller that has a very large LDAP filter.

Open issues

  • After installing this or a later update, Windows devices with some third-party user interface customization apps may fail to start. These third-party apps may cause errors with explorer.exe that may loop multiple times. The known affected third-party user interface customization apps are ExplorerPatcher and StartAllBack. These types of apps often use unsupported methods to achieve their customization, and thus may have unintended results on your Windows device.
