This security update includes quality improvements. Important changes:

• This build contains all the improvements in Windows 11 version 22H2.
• No additional issues are documented for this release.

Windows 11, version 22H2

This security update contains improvements that were part of the update KB5036980 (released on April 23, 2024). If you install this KB:

• This update fixes an issue that may affect domain controllers (DC). NTLM authentication traffic may increase.
• This update fixes an issue that can affect Virtual Secure Mode (VsM) scenarios. They may fail. These scenarios include VPN, Windows Hello, Credential Guard and Key Guard.
• This update fixes an issue that affects SMB (Server Message Block) clients. They cannot establish SMB multichannel connections. For this reason, file transfers are slow. This issue occurs after you install KB5036980 (April 23, 2024). Event ID 30826 for Microsoft-Windows-SMBClient/Connectivity appears in the Windows event log.

If you have installed previous updates, only the new updates in this package will be downloaded and installed on your device.

Bug fixes

• This update fixes a known issue that can cause your VPN connection to fail. This happens after you install the April 9, 2024 update or later.

Open issues

After installing this update, you may not be able to change the profile picture of your user account.

If you try to change a profile picture by clicking the Start> Settings> Accounts> Your info button, and then select Choose file, you may receive an error message with error code 0x80070520.

Important notes

IMPORTANT: New dates for the end of non-security updates for Windows 11 version 22H2

The new end date is June 24, 2025 for Windows 11 version 22H2 Enterprise and Education editions. The Home and Pro editions of version 22H2 will receive non-security preview updates until June 26, 2024.

After these dates, only cumulative monthly security updates will continue for the supported editions of Windows 11, version 22H2. The original date for this change was February 27, 2024, but based on user feedback, this date has been changed to allow more customers to take advantage of our continued innovation.
