What is an PDU message?
Consists of:
The core component of the Modbus protocol is the Protocol Data Unit - PDU, consisting of the functional code and data.
In all of the Modbus versions, there is an application-specific addressing and error check that is attached to the PDU, thus making the Application Data Unit (ADU).
The Modbus TCP packet is encapsulated in the ADU, where the TCP protocol itself handles the error checking which is why the CRC error check is omitted from the ADU.
