For some reason I appear first in the Zoom gallery view, even with my audio and video turned off. I even appear before the host of the meeting. Why does this happen and how can I not be listed first on the gallery view? Classmates have confirmed that I am first on their gallery as well, so it is not just me seeing this. I even attended a meeting with 400+ people and I was still listed up top on the gallery view. During this meeting, other people would talk and of course their videos would be shown first instead of mine, but after they were done, my video would go back to being the first one on the list.

There are clear rules for this, defined by Zoom. You will always see yourself in the first place, even if you are not the host (even if muted or with the camera disabled). Only the host himself can influence the order of the gallery view and adjust it for himself.

The names in the participants area are displayed in the following order:

You
The host (if you are not the host)
Telephone numbers without names
Unmuted subscribers (in alphabetical order)
Muted subscribers (in alphabetical order)

If you are displayed first for all others (or after the host), this is probably due to your name (alphabetical order). Please check if you are displayed first for your friends if you are muted or if you attend the meeting with a turned off camera. This should not be possible.
