CHANGES TO EXISTING FEATURES

  • Zoom Chat changing to Zoom Team Chat - Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS
    The out-of-meeting, persistent chat experience is renamed to Zoom Team Chat. This change is only to the various UI elements and has no effect on associated features and functionalities.
  • Split of Meetings and Teams Chat for mobile - Android, iOS
    The Meet & Chat tab of the mobile app is now separated into two tabs: Meetings and Team Chat. The Meetings tab provides the Start, Join, Schedule and Screen Share options, as well as see upcoming meetings, while the Team Chat tab is dedicated to 1:1 chats, group chats, and chat channels.
NEW AND ENHANCED FEATURES
  • General features
    • Enhanced CarPlay support - iOS
      Apple CarPlay users can now see and join their upcoming meetings on their car's display unit.
    • Profile Card enhancements - Windows, macOS, Linux
      Profile cards have been visually enhanced to better convey information about users and contacts. Work location (Office or Remote), location, and local time are spaced properly, even when fewer of those items are provided by the user. The location field supports hyperlinks. The email address field on the Contact tab of the Profile Card now displays a copy to clipboard button on hover. A reminder that profile cards can be viewed in meetings. You can also see them in Zoom Team Chat by hovering over a user's profile photo or @ mention name.
    • Additional MSI/PLIST/GPO/MDM options
      • Preset use of hide self view in meetings - HideSelfView - Windows, macOS, Linux
        Disabled by default, this controls the use of the Hide Self View option. This is currently available during meetings and webinars, but will include an additional out-of-meeting in the client video settings.
      • User different proxy pre-detection method - PreproxyDetectPolicy - Windows
        This controls the use of an admin-defined proxy pre-detection method, which can be faster for some PAC cases. If this is not defined, the default Zoom proxy detection is used.
      • Allow older version to be installed - AllowDowngrade - Windows (MSI only)
        With this enabled, a user or admin can bypass the default prevention of installing an older version of the desktop client. This is currently only supported on MSI deployments (with support for GPO coming soon)
  • Meeting/webinar features
    • Sign language interpretation - Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS
      Meeting hosts can assign participants as sign language interpreters, interpreting one language into sign language in real-time. The host can assign interpreters when scheduling or during the meeting. These interpreters are displayed in a dedicated window, which can be repositioned and resized by the attendee choosing to view sign language interpretation. This requires version 5.11.3 or higher for desktop and 5.12.0 or higher for mobile.
    • Decline meeting invitation with message - Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS
      When the host of an active meeting invites a contact directly to join, the invitee can send a message when declining the invite, to provide context around the reason for declining. Some preset responses are provided by Zoom, but custom text can be used as well. The message will appear as a chat message in Zoom Team Chat for the person requesting you join.
    • Enhanced in-meeting audio controls - Windows, macOS
      The desktop client settings for original sound, noise suppression, and other advanced audio controls have been updated to be clearer and easier to use. The in-meeting original sound toggle has been also enhanced to indicate the current status and effect when the toggle is clicked.
    • Enhanced Self-view and Non-video participants controls - Windows, macOS, Linux
      TheHide Self View in client settings is persistent across meetings, reducing the need to be set each meeting. Additionally, theHide Self View and Hide Non-Video Participants s are included in the in-meeting View controls, for easier access.
    • Enhanced in-meeting toolbar for mobile - Android, iOS
      The control toolbar is swipeable, so that more meeting controls are more immediately accessible, instead of being accessed through the More option.This enhancement will not be immediately available for all users, as it is rolling out over time.
  • Meeting features
    • Schedule recurring meetings - Windows, macOS
      Users can schedule a recurring meeting from the desktop client, setting a specific recurrence pattern, just as they can in the scheduler in the web portal. This feature will not be immediately available for all users, as it is rolling out over time.
  • Whiteboard features
    • Rich-text options for text and shapes - Windows, macOS
      Text objects, sticky notes, and shapes can be more finely formatted with additional rich-text options, including bold, italics, underline, size, bulleted and numbered lists, and more.
  • Chat features
    • Set reminders for messages - Windows, macOS, Android, iOS
      Zoom Team Chat users can improve their efficiency and responsiveness by setting configurable reminders for any Zoom Team Chat message. All messages with a reminder are easily accessible in a dedicated Reminders section at the top of the left Zoom Team Chat panel, joining the Mentions, Missed Calls, Bookmarks, and other sections. This can also be configured to not be displayed with the other options through client settings. This requires version 5.12.0 or higher.
    • Virtual background and touch up appearance support for Video Messaging - Windows, macOS, iOS
      When sending a Video Message in Zoom Chat, the user's previously ed virtual background and their touch up setting are applied to the video. An to open virtual background and filter settings is provided for quick access. This feature must be enabled by Zoom and the device must support the virtual background type you want to utilize.
    • Restrict who can add channel members - Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS
      When updating or editing a chat channel, the channel admin can choose to allow anyone in the channel to add new members, or they can restrict this ability to only channel owners and admins. If external users are allowed in the channel, they can also which user types are allowed to add external members to the channel.
    • Additional keyboard shortcuts for Zoom Team Chat - Windows, macOS, Linux
      To assist users with screen readers, several keyboard shortcuts are added to quickly bring the screen focus to commonly used areas of chat, including switching to the chat list, jumping to the most recent message, jumping to start of unread messages, and adding members to chat or channel.
    • Request private channel access from channel and message links - Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS
      When a link to a private channel or message in a private channel is shared with a user that is not currently a member of that private channel, they can request access to join. The channel admin receives the request in that channel, and if approved, the requestor is notified of the approval.
    • Enhanced previews for chat message and channel links - Windows, macOS, Linux
      When a Zoom Team Chat message or channel is deeplinked in chat, the preview will provide additional information. Deeplinks to public channels provide channel type, name, and description info. Deeplinks to messages in public channels provide original sender name, date/time, and a short snippet of the message. Deeplinks to private channels and messages within are only provided if the user is already a member of that private channel.
    • Add chatbots and chat apps to folders - Windows, macOS, Linux
      Chatbots and Zoom Chat apps from the marketplace can be sorted into chat folders. Previously, only chat contacts, group chats, and chat channels could be assigned to a folder. This must be enabled by Zoom.
  • Phone features
    • Create a personal contact from Zoom Phone - Windows, macOS, Linux
      Users can an inbound/outbound number from their phone history, SMS or Voicemail and save it as a personal contact for future reference.
    • Ability to star personal contacts - Windows, macOS, Linux
      Users can go to their contacts tab, and star a contact in their personal contacts section for ease of access.
    • Video mail/video greeting virtual background - Windows, macOS, Android, iOS
      If the feature is enabled by their admin, users can record a video greeting or video mail using a virtual background. The custom and Zoom-provided virtual backgrounds will be available for use, although custom backgrounds can only be uploaded via the web portal.
  • Contact Center features
    • Make outbound calls in Not Ready status - Windows, macOS
      Supervisors or agents can make outbound voice calls while in the Ready or Not Ready status. As a result, they will receive inbound engagement notifications while in the outbound call. Previously, they could only make outbound calls while in the Not Ready status.
    • Upgrade voice or SMS to video - Windows, macOS
      Account owners and admins can allow agents to upgrade an active voice or SMS engagement to video engagement.
    • Launching a URL during inbound calls - Windows, macOS
      Supervisors or agents can set the desktop client to automatically launch a URL when they receive a voice call. They can also insert parameters to pass details about the consumer.
    • Enhanced filters for Closed engagements tab - Windows, macOS
      Supervisors and agents can filter the Closed engagements tab by channel (Voice, Video or Messaging). The Messaging channel filter consolidates web chat, in-app chat, and SMS engagements.
    • Specify skills when transferring - Windows, macOS
      When agents transfer an engagement to a queue that contains an agent routing profile, they can specify the s required by the agent routing profile.
    • Agent avatar in transfer window (voice) - Windows, macOS
      When transferring a voice engagement, agents can see other agents' contact center avatars. Agents' contact center avatars are separate from their Zoom profile pictures and can be customized by admins.
    • Enhancements to viewing recordings - Windows, macOS
      There are several enhancements to make it easier for admins, supervisors, and agents to view engagements that contain multiple recordings.
    • Enhancements to internal calling from Zoom Contact Center to Zoom Phone - Windows, macOS
      When supervisors or agents make outbound calls or transfer calls to Zoom Phone users, the search results will display users' profile pictures and presence statuses.

[Release notes for Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)]

Improvements

NEW AND ENHANCED FEATURES

  • Enhancements to breakout rooms audio and video broadcast
    There are several enhancements to improve breakout room functionality. Hosts can share a presentation from the main room to multiple breakout rooms. Hosts can also broadcast audio to breakout rooms. Users who join a breakout room, using the VDI Zoom Meeting client, can receive the same audio and share the session video from the main room that other participants receive.
  • Support for video filters for Linux VDI plugins
    VDI now supports video filters and its functionality for the Linux VDI plugins and platforms. Previously, video filters were only supported for the macOS and Windows plugins and platforms.
Bug fixes
  • Apply GPO upload bandwidth limitations to the Virtual Machine
    A fix was implemented to address an issue where bandwidth limit policies were applied to the VDI Plugin for meetings but were not being applied to the virtual desktop for Share Sessions
  • Optimizations when ing a new Virtual Background and Avatar
    Improvements were made to update with a new virtual background after ing an avatar.
  • Watermark flickering when joining a share session in progress
    VDI users joining a share session, where a watermark is being displayed, would see the watermark flicker several times. This issue has been resolved.
  • Improved logic check for displaying Raised Hands
    An issue has been fixed where a raised hand indication was not displayed after another instance of a hand being raised and lowered.
  • Update cursor ion for Linux Plugins
    A problem was fixed where the cursor incorrectly displayed the open "hand" graphic instead of the arrow.
  • Save entire screen share when saving annotations
    An issue was reported and fixed for a problem where users could add annotations to a screen share session, but when they saved the changes, only the changes were being saved instead of the annotations on top of the existing shared material.
  • Update Remove Spotlight for Linux
    The option and graphic displayed to remove a spotlight when using a Linux plugin have been updated to match what is displayed for the standard client.
  • Tool menu not displayed when minimized for Linux
    A problem has been fixed when switching between windows and minimized views, where the tool menu would disappear in the minimized view the second time.
  • Incorrect call time for Zoom Phone on VMware
    An issue where the timestamps for Zoom Phone calls were incorrect for VMware was found, and changes have been made to log the correct time.
  • Improved AEC ion for Zoom Phone
    A change was made for Acoustic Echo Cancellation to prevent audio from cutting out when VDI Plugins were used with high-performance clients.
  • Improvement for desktop IP Phones in Fallback Mode for remote desktops
    When the VDI Zoom Meeting client is installed on a workstation and not a virtual desktop (to support local and remote access), a change was made to address a problem where the connection between the client and an IP Phone was lost when the VDI client checked for a VDI plugin after resuming from sleep.
  • Video loss issue for fullscreen mode and VMWare plugin
    An issue was found and corrected for a problem where the video was lost when a user entered fullscreen mode and then returned to window mode.
  • Audio volume improvements for Linux plugins
    The behavior for Linux volume adjustments has been updated to follow the same implementation as the Windows plugin, and volume changes apply to all applications that use the same device.
  • Improved update for Ask to Unmute/Mute status
    An issue has been addressed where the forAsk to Unmute orMutewas not refreshed on a thumbnail video on time when someone raised their hand.
  • Sign language interpreters video display
    An issue was found and fixed for the ASL video displayed during a meeting.
  • VDI auto-update policy for local machine
    A change was made for the registry entry "EnableVDIPluginAutoUpgrade" to support adding the under HKLM for the Windows client to disable VDI plugin auto-update on a workstation. Previously, the registry key would only disable the VDI auto-update when added to the registry for HKCU.
  • Update installation logic to allow VDI plugin process to continue
    Changes were made in both the standard client and the VDI client installers to prevent client installations from stopping the VDI plugin process when the user is in a meeting using the VDI plugin and they install the client during a meeting on the same device.
  • Update multi-language translation to disable for older plugins
    A backward compatibility issue was corrected to disable the translation options when older versions of the VDI plugin (that do not support the feature) are used.
  • Display watermark for Breakout Rooms
    An issue was discovered and fixed where watermarks were no longer displayed when a user joined a breakout room.

  • Device management features
    • Asset tag description
      Admins can assign a tag to their Zoom Phone Appliances (ZPA) devices for functions such as tracking and identification purposes. The existing managed devices will have a blank tag description field by default that can be updated as necessary.
    • Factory reset for Zoom Phone Appliances (ZPA)
      Admins can perform a factory reset on Zoom Phone Appliances (ZPA) directly from the Zoom web portal. This can be beneficial for devices that cannot be brought online or become misconfigured, and the action needs to be performed remotely.
    • Scheduled restart for Zoom Phone Appliances (ZPA)
      Admins can schedule a routine weekly restart/reboot for their Zoom Phone Appliances (ZPA) of their devices.
    • Reassign last user or common area Zoom Phone Appliance (ZPA)
      Enables admins to quickly re-assign users to devices from the Device List in the Zoom web portal. In this enhancement, the last User assigned to the Zoom Phone Appliance (ZPA) is available in the dialog box so the admin can click on the last User to quickly reassign the device to that user.
