Meeting Owl
Do I need a USB 3.0 port?
Is a USB 3.0 port required to connect the Meeting Owl or is 2.0 sufficient?
Is a USB 3.0 port required to connect the Meeting Owl or is 2.0 sufficient?
A USB UVC 1.1 port is required, i.e. USB 2.0.
USB 3.0 also works, of course.
On the answer USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 I agree. Because the datasheet explicitly says: Plug-and-Play over USB 2.0UVC
1.1 is something else though. UVC stands for USB Video Class. And a USB device is only considered a UVC device if it meets the USB Device Class definition for video devices. Currently there are versions from 1.0 to 1.5. This is about the support of audio and video streaming functions and the ability to control the camera. For example, I can control my PTZ camera via the UVC protocol. The zoom, tilt and pan as far as the software has implemented this function.
