I have received a zoom invitation, what do I have to do?
I have received a zoom invitation via e-mail or Outlook calendar entry, what do I have to do? Do I need a license or an account? How can I best prepare for the video conference?
Answers
No need for an account but I highly recommend creating one by just signing in with your email address and downloading the desktop client as well for stability and flexibility. A Zoom meeting invitation email typically has these pieces of information:
Topic
Time
Join Zoom Meeting (contains the link for you to join the meeting)
Meeting ID
Password
To join the meeting, you'll need to copy the URL attached which is usually under Join Zoom Meeting then copy it to the address bar of your web browser for you to join the meeting (take note of the Meeting ID and Password as well). As I mentioned earlier, it is better to have the desktop app for the optimized experience plus having it can give you the ability to test if your camera and microphone are working fine as preparation for the meeting.

In order to participate in the online meeting, no license is required for the invited persons, only the inviting person, host needs it.
An account is not absolutely necessary. If you do not have an account, you can enter your name when dialing into the conference.
The Desktop Client is recommended as described above.
Prepare the following 10 minutes before your first meeting:
- Link with the Zoom Meeting ID
- Password, if activated
- desktop app
- Your notebook / smartphone should have enough battery or be connected to the power supply.
- To make a good impression when dialing in and not to stumble over any technical problems, test your camera position, microphone and speaker settings (test computer audio). Often the wrong devices are selected and you may not be heard or hear anything.
