Turning on video jumps around and leads to Zoom client hanging?

When I turn on my camera (tried both Logitech and Microsoft), the video jumps around and the Zoom client slows where the buttons on the Zoom toolbar take 10 seconds or more to respond after clicking.

I have a large Dell monitor, but have a friend with a larger one and no similar problems. Happens on multiple devices for me. All Windows 10.

Zoom says the large monitor is using too much CPU to draw and that's the problem. However, CPU is at 8% and I resized Zoom to the smallest possible to minimize the number of pixels.

I had the same problem in March and they told me to uncheck Sending Video under Advanced options which seemed to work until the past 2-4 weeks or so when the problem seems to have come back.

Any insights welcomed and appreciated.

Thank you,

Scott

It seems that the problem you describe could be due to your computer's performance, especially if you are using a large monitor. Here are some steps you can try to solve the problem:

  1. check that all the drivers for your camera and monitor are up to date. Outdated drivers can cause performance problems.
  2. close all other programs and browser windows to maximize system resources.
Disable background applications that are not needed. This will allow you to free up more system resources for Zoom.
  3. during the meeting, turn off the video unless it is absolutely necessary. This can help reduce system load.
  4. use a wired connection instead of a wireless connection. A wired connection can provide a more stable connection and improve performance.
  5. use another device to test if the problem persists. If the problem occurs on other devices, it could be a problem with the network or the Zoom client itself.
Update the Zoom client to the latest version. Performance improvements may have been introduced in the latest version that can solve the problem.
