How to set additional digital channel (pin 2)?

"For port A class (type A) the functions of pins 2 and 5 are not specified. These functions are defined by the manufacturer. Usually an additional digital channel is assigned to pin 2."
OK, I have for example an "Absolute Encoder IO-Link" that have only "Process data input" (Device -> Fieldbus) and no "Process data output" (Fieldbus -> Device). The manufacturer say me that the pin 2 make the "Preset" of encoder.

Well, in witcht way can I set pin 2? The device have no process data output and the pin 2 is fisically connected inside M12 to Axioline.

Since the "Absolute Encoder IO-Link" does not have a process data output, you must connect pin 2 directly to the Axioline system to set it. To do this, connect the pin 2 connector of the device to the corresponding pin 2 input of the Axioline system.
